Shri Venkateswara Suprabhatam
Introduction
Shri Venkateswara Suprabhatam (literally meaning "Auspicious Dawn to Lord Venkateswara") is the famous morning awakening hymn dedicated to Lord Srinivasa at the sacred hill-shrine of Tirumala. Composed around 1430 CE by Sri Prativadi Bhayankaram Annan, a disciple of Swami Manavala Mamunigal in the Sri Vaishnava tradition, this stotram is recited every morning at Tirumala temple to wake Lord Venkateswara.
The Suprabhatam begins with the immortal verse from Maharshi Valmiki's Ramayana: "Kausalyā Suprajā Rāma Pūrvā Sandhyā Pravartate", linking Lord Venkateswara directly to Lord Shri Ramachandra.
The complete Venkateswara Suprabhatam consists of four parts:
- Suprabhatam (29 verses of morning awakening)
- Stotram (11 verses of praise)
- Prapatti (16 verses of total surrender)
- Mangalasasanam (14 verses wishing eternal glory)
Reciting the Suprabhatam at dawn fills the home with divine light, peace, auspiciousness, and the eternal blessings of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavati.
Benefits of Recitation (Phalashruti)
According to scriptural tradition and verse 29 of the Suprabhatam, daily morning recitation of Shri Venkateswara Suprabhatam grants the following blessings:
- Auspicious Dawn and Peace (Su-Prabhatam): Fills the day with divine clarity, positive thoughts, and enthusiasm.
