Shri Uma Maheshwara Stotram
Introduction
Shri Uma Maheshwara Stotram is a 12-verse devotional hymn composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya in praise of the divine couple Goddess Parvati (Uma) and Lord Shiva (Maheshwara).
In Sanatana Dharma, Uma and Maheshwara represent the eternal union of Prakriti (Divine Nature/Energy) and Purusha (Pure Cosmic Consciousness). Just as speech and its meaning are inseparable (Vagarthaviva Sampriktau), Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva are eternally united as the parents of the universe (Jagatah Pitarau).
Each verse begins with the enchanting phrase "Namaḥ Śivābhyāṃ" ("Salutations to the dual divine form of Shiva and Parvati"), praising their complementary divine qualities, ornaments, and cosmic play.
