Shri Shiva Panchakshara Stotram
Introduction
Shri Shiva Panchakshara Stotram is one of the most sublime and popular devotional hymns composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. It is dedicated to the five-syllable holy mantra of Lord Shiva: "Na - Ma - Śi - Vā - Ya" (न मः शि वा य).
Each of the five core verses of this stotram begins with one syllable of the Panchakshari Mantra, elaborating the divine qualities, form, and philosophy associated with that sacred letter. The hymn concludes with a powerful Phalashruti verse praising the merit of reciting it daily.
In Sanatana Dharma, the Panchakshari Mantra is considered the heart of the Yajurveda (occurring in the Sri Rudram section). Adi Shankaracharya crafted this hymn so that every devotee could contemplate the deeper Vedantic meaning of Om Namah Shivaya.
