Shri Madhurashtakam Stotram
Introduction
Shri Madhurashtakam Stotram (literally meaning "The Eight Verses of Divine Sweetness") is one of the most immortal, poetic, and soul-stirring devotional compositions in Sanatana Dharma. Composed by the 15th-century saint and philosopher Jagadguru Sri Vallabhacharya (founder of the Pushtimarga tradition), this hymn celebrates the absolute sweetness (Madhurya) of Lord Sri Krishna.
According to Pushtimarga tradition, Sri Vallabhacharya had a direct divine vision (Darshana) of Lord Sri Krishna at Gokul. Spellbound by the Lord's transcendent beauty, Vallabhacharya spontaneously sang these 8 verses.
Every single word, attribute, movement, and form of Sri Krishna is declared to be infinitely sweet. Each verse concludes with the ecstatic refrain: "Madhurādhipater-Akhilaṃ Madhuram" ("Everything belonging to the Lord of Sweetness is sweet!").
