Spiritual Significance

Shri Rudram is the heart of the Yajurveda:

  1. Origin of Panchakshari: The 5-syllable mantra Om Namah Shivaya originates in Anuvaka 8 of Namakam.
  2. Omnipresence of Rudra: Sees Rudra in kings, thieves, hunters, trees, rivers, clouds, waves, and silence.
  3. Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra: Concludes with the famous Tryambakam Yajamahe mantra for conquering death.
